A short item broadcast on Radio 2 on 26/01/06 featuring news of the
forthcoming Dexys album including a few words from Kevin Rowland.
ROUND
TABLE
Kevin Rowland appears as a guest reviewer on BBC 6 Music's Round
Table show and talks about writing songs for a new Dexys album.
Round Table host Steve Lamacq asks Kevin Rowland to explain his own
song-writing process.
THE THEME FROM BRUSH STROKES
When sit-com "Brush Strokes" first aired on BBC1 in 1986 it featured a short
extract from the Dexys recording "Because Of You" over the opening credits. However by 1990 Kevin Rowland had rerecorded
this short section of the song - complete with a curious lyrical change - for use on the later series.
The Proclaimers have often given credit to Dexys for
the influence they had on the Scottish duo's formative years. In a BBC documentary broadcast in 2001, Kevin Rowland
repays the compliment, expressing his appreciation of the Reid brothers' music.
